lyrics

he’s the son

he’s the son
he’s the light
he’s everything you want to be
he’s the son
he’s the light
he’s everything you want to be

and you’ll know what I mean
you’ll know what i mean if you’re a man
you’ll know what I mean
you’ll know what i mean if you’re a man

and you’re sure to feel sad
you’re sure to feel sad as you spill yourself on the floor
don your step-mothers makeup and dare yourself to walk out the door

he’s your son
he’s your light
he’s everything you want to be
he’s the sad lonely eyes
you feel just after the rainfall

and you’ll know what I mean
you’ll know what i mean if you’re a man
you’ll know what I mean
you’ll know what i mean if you’re a man

and you’re sure to feel sad
you’re sure to feel sad as you spill yourself on the floor
don your step-mothers makeup and dare yourself to walk out the door

damn these eyes
I can’t escape these empty lies behind my eyes
theres an ache so deep behind my eyes
I can’t escape these empty lies behind my eyes
theres an ache so deep inside my groin.

emi

emi was formed in 1931, the company had forty years success with large scale electronics. alan blumlein, a skilled engineer employed by emi, conducted a great deal of pioneering research into sound recording. blumlein was killed in 1942 whilst conducting trials on his experimental h2s radar unit. during the war, emi’s laboratories in hayes developed radar equipment and guided missiles.

if you believe what they said was in happiness
then you’ll know
in the knowledge that you were the one

in addition to the gramophones manufactured for 40 years, the company later became involved in broadcasting equipment – providing the first television transmitter to the bbc – in 1958 developed britain’s first transistorised computer.

if you believe what they said was in happiness
then you’ll know
if you believe that you were the one

in the 1960s, emi’s factories and studios covered 150 acres of land. today the factories and recording studios are gone except one, the last remaining being emis vast archive sound recordings.

when you were rising star you saw an ocean of smiles
beneath a guiding sun.

zoe’s dream

rain spots fall on a paint-white town
wide open eyes on a tenement sky
crushing sound of a distant crowd
they love you, they love you
they hate you, they hate you

you said goodbye to a friend
it felt like kicking an angel in the teeth
so wait for me there

and in this stolen dream will you wait for me?
i know where you’ve been, don’t know what you’ve seen
in this nightmarish scene
i’m always you
a girl that no one can believe in
a girl that no one’s ever seen

clear as night this dreams a lie
wide open eyes on a blood red sky
rushing sound of a distant crowd
they love you, they love you
they hate you, they hate you

i know the setting sun
i never shared it with anyone
now you haunt these hours like a ghost in my genes

and in this stolen dream will you wait for me?
i know where you’ve been, don’t know what you’ve seen
in this nightmarish scene
i’m always you
a girl that no one can believe in
a girl that no one’s ever seen

you ended it last night
you ended it too soon
and all i believe in will never be enough
never be enough for you, dear.

lila mila

its mine – its my inoculous sky – don’t you know
she’s mine – she’s got that look in her eye – don’t you know
and you’re feeling your best right now
her mind makes me feel so alive – don’t you know
and her look – her style and effortless poise – makes me grow
and you’re feeling your best right now

oh my!

she don’t grow no older
she can feed this hunger
she’s got so much charm
we’ll take all she’s got to give
we are so obsessed with her – she will never sell out!

you might feel so alone, but alive – don’t you know
its implied in every word that she cries – inner glow
and she’ll bring it right back to you

oh my!

she can feed this hunger
she don’t grow no older
she’s got so much charm
we’ll take all she’s got to give
we are so obsessed with her – she will never sell out!

go be a lover, go be a star!
a picture of you in their hearts
a picture of you half undressed
generation no-interest.

don’t sleep tonight

though I’ve only just met you i want to get to know you
like two swallows on the wind drifting gently out to sea
you breathe softly on my cheek, you fit to me so perfectly
like you were made bespoke for me, like we were meant to be

so don’t sleep tonight
your mind is racing – I’m the same
so don’t sleep tonight
walk with me naked
be my eve tonight

I wanna see you swimming, wanna see your hair lay dripping
on your shoulders in that moment you raise yourself out of the sea
And when you’ve finished dipping I look into your eyes
and nothing you can say can match the feeling I receive

so don’t sleep tonight
your mind is racing – I’m the same
so don’t sleep tonight
walk with me naked
be my eve tonight

good moments happen if you let them if you love you won’t forget them
you may laugh but they’ll always be that special part of me
I wanna know what you were like, when you were young and rode your bike
round to your cousins house and flashed your torches in the dark

so don’t sleep tonight
your mind is chaste, dear– I’m the same
so don’t sleep tonight
walk with me naked
be my eve tonight.

Listen up

What was the happiest moment of my life?
Was it when you were new?
Didn’t you feel like some song always applied to you?
And the sadness smouldered on

(And the sadness becomes you
Let it breath for you)

That was the happiest vision of my life
As I kicked in step with you
You were the life of the party
And I don’t believe you knew the moon

What is this power at the tips of your fingers?
And like the wings of a dart
Spinning towards me with a new silent death
And bursting with love renewed

Listen up! There’s a sound for each rhythm of life
And in this way new worlds collide
Listen up! There’s a sound for each rhythm of life
And in this way you’ll trace your old feelings back
Listen up! That’s all that this world will provide
That’s all that this world will provide
